Tara Flandreau received her B.A. (music), and M.M. Degrees from Dominican University in San Rafael, and did doctoral work in music education at Columbia University in New York. 

Tara taught at the College of Marin in Kentfield, California for over 30 years, including advanced music theory classes (chromatic harmony and 20th-21st century techniques), composition, computer music notation, ear training, chamber music, strings class/chamber orchestra, as well as conducting the symphony orchestra.

Tara wears many hats as a performer: violinist, violist, composer, improviser and conductor.  She is featured on several recordings of improvised music.  Her compositions and improvisations have been performed on the West and East coasts of the US and in Europe.

When not working on musical projects, Tara is making visual art, including printmaking, collage, wood collage sculptures, and photography.
